Belfast and Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland's smallest firms feel the squeeze most. Software should take some of the weight.

We work with businesses in Belfast and across Northern Ireland in UK hours, with a senior engineer on every call and a fixed quote in pounds, in writing, before you commit.

The local picture

Business in Belfast, in numbers.

Belfast has 11,485 registered businesses, 96 per cent of them micro or small (ONS, 2026). Professional services lead the count, followed by retail, arts and other services, and hospitality. The city also has strong clusters in cyber security, AI and data, and fintech.

11,485
registered businesses in Belfast (ONS, 2026).
62%
of Northern Ireland's micro firms say they are trading well or reasonably, against 88 to 89 per cent of larger firms (NI Chamber, August 2026).
£15,000
the most each business can receive from Invest NI's new Groundwork for Growth programme, launched in October 2026.

When the smallest firms are under the most strain, every hour of admin saved matters.

In the NI Chamber and Queen's University survey for the second quarter of 2026, labour costs were the main pressure, and most firms reported higher energy and operating costs. Northern Ireland also has a rare advantage for anyone selling goods: access to both the UK internal market and the EU single market under the Windsor Framework. We build low-cost automation for small teams, and online shops that handle pricing, delivery and VAT for customers in both markets.

How a project actually runs.

    • A scope document
    • A fixed quote and timeline
  2. 02 Weeks 2 to 4

    • Progress notes in plain English
  4. 04 Launch week

    Launch, from a checklist.

Questions from Belfast

Frequently asked questions.

Do you work with businesses in Belfast?

Yes. We work with businesses in Belfast and across Northern Ireland in UK hours, with video calls, a shared project board and a weekly demo. You can ring us on 07723 431000 on any working day, and a senior engineer joins every call, from the first conversation to launch.

Can you build an online shop that sells into Great Britain and the EU?

Yes. We set up delivery options, pricing, VAT and product information for customers in both markets, so the checkout shows the right total for each. Dual market access applies to goods, and the product rules vary, so confirm what applies to your range with Invest NI or an adviser.

Can Groundwork for Growth funding be used for our project?

Possibly. Invest NI's programme offers up to £15,000 for product development, marketing and market development to businesses that are not yet Invest NI clients. Eligibility is Invest NI's decision, so check its guidance first. We can then scope the work to fit.

Can you work under Northern Ireland law?

Yes. Each project's statement of work names the governing law, and we are happy to agree the law and courts of Northern Ireland with a Northern Ireland client. As with any contract, ask your solicitor to review the terms before you sign.
